Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is most well-known for her musical talents. She is the youngest female and also the first woman to receive the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar, a young emerging superstar on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is a student and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982, and was a young girl who travelled back and forth from London as well as New Delhi. When she was only 13, her first show was in New Delhi took place. She then moved in Encinitas CA, where she received the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Although she is still very young Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording. Her father has accompanied her to numerous performances over some time. The singer made Anourag her first album solo in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated album Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Her stage career is very vast as she has appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not only limited to music. She released Bapi the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. The year 2003 saw her appeared on Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and will surely be other things to be expected from this talented lady. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her childhood in between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in high school there. At the age of nine, she began studying music under her father. She made her debut on the sitar 4 years later during his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience touring across the globe with her dad. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. The youngest female to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament in recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability within music and the Asian Arts.
